RAPID CITY – Dragr Monson of Groton and Bradyn Robbins of Redfield captured Class B state wrestling championships Saturday night.

Monson capped off an unbeaten season at 43-0 with a 5-3 victory in the final at 113 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Monson scored a reversal and then a two-point near fall to take a 4-0 lead into the final period.

Monson’s lead was sliced to 4-3 before he added a late escape for the final margin. Monson became Groton’s first state champion since Dalton Locke in 2013.

Robbins scored a 10-3 victory to claim the 138 pounds championship. Robbins defeated three-time state champion Braden Sehr of Canton in a rematch of last year’s final.

Robbins, who was selected as the Outstanding Class B Wrestler, record four takedowns on the way to the victory. He finished the year with a 51-1 record.

Canton won the State B team title. Redfield finished fifth.

Brandon Valley captured the State A team championship. Aberdeen Central was 13th.

Aberdeen Central had four placewinners for the boys. Rayden Zens was the top finisher, taking third at 106 pounds. Brock Martin finished fourth at 126. Samuel Calvert took fifth at 170. Mason Schrempp was sixth at 113.

Aberdeen Central grabbed multiple places in the girls’ Class A division.

Madyson Gillen was fourth and Ally Brunmaier seventh at 112 pounds; Melina Frank was third at 131 pounds; Clare Moe was seventh at 143; Morgan Woosley was fifth at 167; and Madison Holmes was fifth at 275.

Sisseton’s Hannah Goodheart won the 275 pound Class B state championship.

Milbank Area had three placewinners in Class A: Brayden Christensen who was eighth at 132 pounds, Barrett Schneck who was eighth was 152, and Toby Schneck who was fourth at 195.

Area placewinners in Class B included:

103 pounds: 4, Holden Hawkins, Sisseton, and 5, Brady Risetter of Redfield.

113 pounds: 6, Ian Metz, Sisseton.

120 pounds: 5, Gunner Kvistad, Clark-Willow Lake.

126 pounds: 6, Keaton Rohlfs, Redfield.

132 pounds: 3, Cael Larson, Webster, and 4, Parker Geditz, Faulkton

145 pounds: 3, Mason Fey, Redfield.

160 pounds: 4, Dylan Whitley, Redfield.

182 pounds: 3, Corbin Schwartz, Redfield, and 4, Gage Burke, Clark-Willow Lake.

285 pounds: Aiden Schoenhard, Mobridge-Pollock.

Area placewinners for Class B girls included:

129 pounds: 3, Marley Guthmiller, Ipswich-Bowdle, and 7, Sierra Stuwe, Potter County.

160 pounds: 5, Xandrea Bears Heart, Mobridge-Pollock.

275 pounds: 3, Abi Reil, Clark-Willow Lake.
