Castlewood, White River, Waverly-South Shore and Herreid-Selby Area win at B

HURON – The Class B State Girls’ Basketball Tournament provided some late-game drama Friday night. Maleighya Estes made a last-second shot to propel White River past Corsica-Stickney 52-50 in the semifinals at the Huron Arena. Top-seeded Castlewood stopped Ethan 55-41 in the other semifinal.

In consolation round action Waverly-South Shore defeated Hanson 51-45, and Herried-Selby Area defeated Viborg-Hurley 60-46.

Rachel Fiedler scored a game-high 25 points to lead Herreid-Selby Area. She had 17 of those in the first half when the Wolverines opened a 15-point lead. Kendell Sawinsky contributed 10 for Herreid-Selby Area, which improved to 21-4 on the season.

The Wolverines will finish the season by facing Waverly-South Shore in the fifth place game at 2 this afternoon.
