HURON – White River rolled to the State B Girls’ Basketball championship with a 57-37 victory over Castlewood at the Huron Arena Saturday night. Ethan stopped Corsica-Stickney for third 59-48.

Herreid-Selby Area defeated Waverly-South Shore 53-36 to take fifth place, and Viborg-Hurley edged Hanson 40-37 in the seventh place game.

Herreid-Selby Area scored 16 unanswered points to break open a tight game en route to its victory. Rachel Fiedler had seven points and Jennica Berens five during the surge, which extended a four-point edge to a 46-26 advantage.

Waverly-South Shore went on a 9-0 run of its own, but could never get the margin back under double digits.

Fiedler finished with 27 points, including a 7-for-11 performance from three-point range. Her seven three-pointers were one short of tying a State B tournament record.

Berens contributed eight points, Rylee Rossow seven points and 14 rebounds, and Kendell Sawinsky six points for the Wolverines, who finished the year at 22-4.

Emily Kranz powered the Coyotes with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Breanna Breske and Lydia Schroeder each followed with eight points for Waverly-South Shore (17-6).

Fiedler and Kranz were both named to the all-tournament team.
