Heinz named Class B first-team all-state, Wohlleber, Fiedler, second-team

Ipswich senior Halle Heinz has been named to the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association Class B first-team all-state girls’ basketball squad.

Heinz, a Northern State recruit, averaged 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.6 steals per game for the Tigers.

Zoey Wohlleber of Waubay-Summit and Rachel Fiedler of Herreid-Selby Area were named to the second team. Wohlleber, a junior, averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and had 61 steals. Fiedler, a senior, averaged 18 points and five rebounds per game to help lead the Wolverines to a fifth place finish at the State B tournament.

Caleyn Valandra-Prue, of state champion White River, was named the Class B Player of the Year.

First Team selections include Caelyn Valandra-Prue (Sr.) of White River (27.4 points, 7 rebounds, 73 steals), Alayna Benike (Sr.) of Castlewood (19.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.5 steals), Morgan Edelman (Sr.) of Menno (21.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 82 steals), Avery Broughton (So.) of Corsica-Stickney (18 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists), Emily Kranz (Sr.) of Waverly-South Shore (18.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3 blocks per game), and Halle Heinz (Sr.) of Ipswich (20 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 4.6 steals).

Second Team selections include Maleighya Estes (Jr.) of White River (20.6 points, 6 rebounds, 50 steals), Zoey Wohlleber (Jr.) of Waubay-Summit (23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 61 steals), Rachel Fiedler (Sr.) of Herreid-Selby Area (18 points, 5 rebounds), Grace Fryda (Sr.) of Scotland (21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 72 steals), Sydney Voss (Sr.) of Viborg-Hurley (18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds), and Hannah Bartscher (Jr.) of Ethan (17 points, 3 rebounds, 2.7 assists).

Third Team selections include Kennadi Buchholz (Jr.) of De Smet (18.5 points, 10 rebounds, 57 steals, 43 blocks), Kennedy Leiferman (Sr.) of Kimball-White Lake (17.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, 55 steals), Raven Barse (Sr.) of Corsica-Stickney (13.6 points, 8.3 rebounds), Tally Katus (Sr.) of Lemmon (19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds), Haley Meyer (Sr.) of Centerville (19.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 79 steals), and Jadyn Jensen (So.) of Jones County (19.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 steals).

Prue was a first-team selection in 2019 and 2020, and a second-team selection in 2017 and 2018. Benike and Broughton were first-team selections in 2020 and second-team selections in 2019, Edelman was a second-team selection in 2019 and 2020, Heinz was second team in 2020 and third team in 2019, Wohlleber and Leiferman were second team in 2020, Fiedler and Buchholz were third team in 2020.
