Aberdeen Central girls top field events at Capitol City Qualifier

PIERRE – The Aberdeen Central girls had a big day in the field events at the Capitol City Qualifier in Pierre on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles won four field events and finished second in another during the meet.

Grace Kuch won the shot put, Lexi Olson was first in the discus with Katelin Stoebner second, Ciara Frank won the high jump, and Ashlyn Beyer won the triple jump. In the pole vault, Beyer was second, and Ayrlie Waldo was third.

Central also dominated the 3,200-meter run, grabbing the top three spots. Zoe Douglas won the race with Kaylie Peldo second and Jordan Hermansen third.

Caelyn Valandra-Prue of White River had a memorable day winning the 100, 200, 400 and 800.

The Eagles are back in action Saturday when they host the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet at Swisher Field.
