Class A Track and Field Leaders

A trio of Northeast Conference athletes turned in top statewide performances at meets within the last week.

Nick Batchelor of Milbank Area ran his way to the top in the Class A 1,600-meter run, clocking a time of 4:25.1 at the Sisseton Twi-Light meet last Friday. Teammate Bennett Schwenn improved his state-leading triple jump mark to 45-feet 9 3/4-inches at the same meet.

Meanwhile, Gracelyn Leiseth improved her top mark in the discus to 143-feet 5-inches at the Lake Central Conference meet on Tuesday.

Schwenn also leads the 200-meter dash and is third in the long jump. Batchelor is third in the 3,200-meter run and fifth in the 800-meter run. Both athletes are members of the number one sprint medley relay squad and the second fastest 1,600-meter relay team.

Ryker Trevett of Milbank Area is second in the shot put, Andrew Kranhold of Sisseton is tied for second in the high jump, and Drew Reetz of Webster is second in the pole vault.

Leiseth is second in the shot put, McKenna Prouty of Hamlin is first in the high jump, and Greta Snaza of Milbank Area tops the pole vault. Ashlynn Batchelor of Milbank Area has the second fastest time in the 3,200-meter run.
