It was a big week for one area Class B jumper and a sprint medley relay team.

Emily Breske of Dakota Hills jumped right to the top of the Class B girls high jump field with a leap of 5-feet 4-inches as she won Howard Wood last weekend.

The Warner boys also ran their way to the fastest time in the sprint medley relay. The quartet of Peyton Jung, Logan Permann, Chase Braun and Cody Larson clocked a time of 3:46.7 during the Valley Queen Cheese Invitational on Tuesday in Milbank.

That is just part of the Lake Region Conference athletes who continue to show statewide prominence.

Zander Widener of Langford Area leads the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Larson leads the 1,600 and 3,200 and is second in the 800, and Alec Maier of North Central has the best time in the 800.

Meanwhile, Isaac Sumption of Frederick is second in the 100 and third in the 200, Landon Leidholt of Warner is third in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles, Jackson McNeil of Warner is second in the shot put, Eric Severson of Ipswich is second in the discus, and Kade Larson of Langford Area is second in the triple jump. Ipswich is second in the 800-meter relay and third in the 400-meter relay.

The LRC is also well represented on the girls’ side.

Jessica Boekelheide of Northwestern is third in the 100 and fifth in the 200, and teammate Jocelyn Haven is fourth in the 100 hurdles. Both are members of the 400-meter relay squad which is third and the 800-meter relay team which is fourth. Peyton Melius of Faulkton is fourth in the high jump.

Hank Kraft of Timber Lake can be found in three jumps. Standing at just 5-feet 7-inches, Kraft is tied for first in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, also leads the triple jump and is fourth in the long jump.

Stevie Wittler of Sully Buttes is second in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles.
