Maier, Olson have big days at Eureka Lions meet

EUREKA – North Central’s Alec Maier won three individual events and Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock won two individual events and ran on a winning relay during the Eureka Lions track and field meet on Tuesday.

Maier won the 200, 400 and 800, while Olson claimed the 800, 1,600 and ran on the winning 1,600-meter relay squad.

Aberdeen Central junior varsity athletes also captured numerous events. Makenna Glanzer led the way winning the 100-meter hurdles and also the pole vault.

Other Golden Eagles who won events included Braxton Kusler in the 110-meter high hurdles, David VanVeen in the 1,600, Isaac Ligon in the pole vault, Grace Kuch in the shot put, Lexi Olson in the discus, Ciara Frank in the high jump and Ashlyn Beyer in the triple jump.
