RENNER – The Aberdeen Smittys dropped a pair of American Legion baseball games to Renner in much different fashion on Wednesday.
Renner dominated one contest, winning 10-0, then managed to pull out a 5-3 victory despite being outhit by the Smittys.
Harry Heuners allowed just one Aberdeen hit in a five-inning 10-run setback, that coming on a single by Eian Risager. Heuners struck out five and did not walk a batter. Meanwhile, Renner racked up 13 hits and scored in every frame. Andrew Barr had three hits to lead the attack. Aspen Dahl, Andy Moen and Zach Ridl collected two hits each.
Aberdeen was unable to hold off Renner in the other contest. The Smittys grabbed a 3-1 lead in the top of the third when Matt Feiock delivered a two-run single, and Josh Steinwandt also drove in a run.
The hosts scored once in the third and once in the fifth to tie the game before Dalton Garbers connected for a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to produce the game-winning runs.
The Smittys outhit Renner 9-5 in the contest, with Max Prehn and Nick Clemens each getting two singles. Barr once again led Renner with three hits.
