GROTON – The Aberdeen Smittys pounded out 13 hits, five for extra-bases, and three pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 13-0 American Legion baseball victory over Groton Wednesday night.

The Smittys scored early and often, plating two runs in the first inning, five in the second, two more in the third and four in the sixth.

Nick Clemens, Tyler Hoffman and Brock Martin each had two hits for the Smittys, who received hits from 10 different players. Martin and Aiden McCafferty each had doubles, Clemens and Brian Holmstrom each tripled, and Hoffman slugged a two-run home run. Hoffman drove in three in the contest. Holmstrom, Hoffman, McCafferty, Clemens and Martin each scored twice.

A trio of Smittys pitchers, McCafferty, Max Prehn and Clemens, silenced the Groton offense, allowing just one single.
