Smittys split pair with Huron

HURON – It was a tale of two games for the Aberdeen Smittys Thursday night.

The Smittys pounded out 15 hits and scored eight times in the first two innings of a 13-4 first game win. However, they managed just three hits in a 7-1 second-game setback, which snapped a three-game winning streak.

Aiden McCafferty and Brock Martin each had three hits, while Matt Feiock and Max Prehn had a pair of hits for Aberdeen in the opener. The Smittys took control with four runs in the first and four more in the second.

Martin and Prehn each drove in three runs in the victory. Tyler Hoffman, Josh Steinwandt and Feiock each scored twice.

Things were much different in the second contest as Aberdeen scratched just one run across. One of the three hits for the Smittys was a triple from Hoffman.
