The Aberdeen Smittys managed just one run in their final home contest of the season in an 11-1 setback to Pierre in American Legion baseball at Fossum Field Wednesday night.
The visitors scored once in the first, but the Smittys answered in the third when Cade Trenhaile walked to force in a run.
Pierre took over after that with three runs in the third, four more in the sixth and another three in the seventh.
Isaac Polak drove in three runs to lead the Pierre attack. Gary Nedved, Jayden Wiebe and Spencer Letellier each had two hits for Pierre, which received hits from eight different players in the contest.
Eian Risager, Matt Feiock, Tyler Hoffman, Max Prehn and Austin Wagemann each had one hit for the Smittys.
Wagemann was awarded the Bryce Anglin Scholarship.
The Smittys now move on the post season where they will face Sioux Falls East in a best two-out-three series Friday and Saturday in Sioux Falls. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. The second game will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday with a third game to follow if necessary.
