Golden Eagles pick up another road win

RAPID CITY – The Aberdeen Central volleyball program edged out a four-set victory over Rapid City Central Friday evening to open a weekend stay in Rapid City.

Central squeezed out a 24-26, 25-16, 26-24, 21-15 win over the Cobblers.

Golden Eagle coach Jackie Bindenagel said Friday’s match was plagued with errors, but the victory was sweet nonetheless.

Grace Kuch and Madi Struble finished with 14 and eight kills, respectively, to lead the way for the Golden Eagles at the net.

Sydney Evans had 27 digs in her role as the starting libero, and Abby Berry and Ayrlie Waldo dished out 16 and 13 assists, respectively.

That was just enough for the Golden Eagles to improve to 2-0 on the season. Both wins have come on the road, which is where Aberdeen Central will remain Saturday, as they face Rapid City Stevens.

Central’s next three matches, in fact, including both matches next week against Huron and Pierre, will be on the road. The Golden Eagles home opener will not come until hosting Spearfish on Sept. 10.
