WEBSTER – Aberdeen Roncalli adjusted to a different lineup and found a way to finish off a 25-17, 24-26, 25-16, 23-25, 15-9 Northeast Conference volleyball win over Webster Thursday night.

The two squads traded set victories with the Cavaliers eventually claiming set five.

“The match was back and forth all evening. Webster was very scrappy picking up several of our attempts,” said Roncalli coach Mandy Smid. “Our girls did a nice job of really working together in figuring out how to extend some rotations to make sure that we had the energy we needed to finish the sets.”

Madelyn Bragg had a huge night for the Cavaliers, finishing with 29 kills, three ace serves, 37 digs and a pair of blocks in the victory.

Olivia Hanson also played a key for Roncalli with a team-leading six aces to go along with 43 set assists.

Maddie Huber added six kills for the Cavaliers, who finished with 45 kills in all.

“With a different lineup and people playing new positions, I think the girls did a great job of covering for each other and figuring out how to make the most out of each position they were placed in,” Smid said. “They kept their heads up and were able to finish.”

Roncalli, 8-4 on the season, plays host to Warner on Tuesday night.
