HURON – Jelani Peters ignited the offense, Marcos Ramos Garcia kept the energy going and Camden Fauth was solid in goal as Aberdeen Central rolled past Huron 6-0 in Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer action Tuesday night.

Peters scored just four minutes into the game to get the Golden Eagles going.

“Jelani got us going again with that first goal. Instantly it just gives everyone a jolt of confidence,” said Central coach Lance Mohr. “We talk about it all the time: the first 10 (minutes) of the first half and the first 10 of the second half. They’ve really responded to that challenge and been able to kind of dictate the rest of the game.”

It was Garcia who scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second when the Eagles needed another shot of adrenaline.

“He was all over the place,” Mohr said. “Into the second half as the game kind of started to wear on both teams, he found another jolt of energy and caused them a lot of problems.”

Garcia finished the contest with two goals and two assists. Central also received goals from Denon Deuter, Isaac Stockert and Gabe Johnson.

Meanwhile, Fauth pitched another shutout in goal. While the Eagles blanked their third straight opponent. Unlike the others Fauth was tested against Huron.

“They created a couple of chances and Camden really hasn’t had to necessarily make really a big save or a timely save so much this year, we’ve been fortunate in that sense,” Mohr said, “but he came up with a couple of big ones today. He was ready. That’s exactly what you want to see out of a goal keeper.”

Mohr was pleased with how his team came out ready and played for a complete 80 minutes, just like they did against Pierre last weekend.

“I was very pleased with the attitude, effort and intensity that we started the game with,” Mohr said.

The Eagles improved to 5-1 with the victory. They play host to Brandon Valley Saturday at Swisher Field.

“Another tough ESD game. They’re always organized,” Mohr said. “We’ll have to work to break them down. I expect us to be ready for that challenge.”
