PIERRE – Aberdeen Roncalli picked up its first tennis dual victory of the season on Tuesday defeating Rapid City Central 5-4. The Cavaliers lost to Pierre 9-0 and to Rapid City Christian 8-1.

“The girls played well and pulled out a win versus Rapid City Central,” said Roncalli coach Hallie Rohrbach. “Pierre has a strong squad this year as well as Rapid City Christian.”

A highlight on the day was the play of the number two doubles team of River Haskell and Katherine Kretchman, who won two of their three matches.

“I was very proud of our number two doubles, River and Katherine, for their wins over both Rapid City Central and Rapid City Christian,” Rohrbach said.

Other wins for Roncalli came from Maria Barnett, Haskell and Kretchman in singles and the doubles team of Hallie Haskell and Barnett in doubles, all against Rapid City Central.

“It was exciting for the girls to see some of the hard work they’ve put in as a team pay off for the team,” Rohrbach said.

The Cavaliers are off until Saturday when they face Yankton and Sioux Falls Roosevelt in Sioux Falls.
