BROOKINGS – Aberdeen Roncalli was blanked by O’Gorman 9-0 and took down Brookings 7-2 in tennis action on Tuesday.

“I’m very excited about our 7-2 team win over Brookings,” said Roncalli coach Hallie Rohrbach. “It’s always exciting for the girls to win their matches individually, but there’s something extra magical and uniting when we pull out with the team win as well.”

The Cavaliers received singles wins from Hallie Haskell, Maria Barnett, River Haskell and Katherine Kretchman against Brookings. Roncalli then swept all three doubles flights.

“Brookings is a great matchup for our girls and our team,” Rohrbach said. “There were lots of good matches and points played.”

O’Gorman is one of the top squads in the state. The Cavaliers were able to regroup following that dual to play well against Brookings.

“Although we had just come from a loss to OG, I was very proud of how our girls were able to reset their focus and take the courts vs. Brookings with confidence,” Rohrbach said. “They went on to play some solid tennis and pull off the win.”

The Cavaliers host Rapid City Central and Rapid City Stevens on Friday, before competing in the Elliott Extravaganza on Saturday.
