FARGO, N.D. – Aberdeen Central did not drop a set on the way to winning the Silver Bracket at the Scheel’s Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. The Golden Eagles swept Fargo Oak Grove 25-23, 25-10, Valley City 25-19, 25-16 and Kindred 25-23, 25-17.

Central coach Jackie Bindenagel credited setter Abby Berry for running the offense as well as the backrow for getting the ball to her.

“Abby Berry did a great job of spreading the ball around to our hitters,” Bindenagel said, “and she could do that because our passing and defense played so well.”

Karly Wellman led the squad with eight kills against Oak Grove, while Grace Kuch and Kiana Mounga were the top hitters against Valley City. Kuch finished with 13 kills against Kindred.

“Our hitters were more efficient than they’ve been all season,” Bindenagel said.

Sydney Evans anchored the backrow, leading the team in digs in all three matches.

The Eagles ended up 4-2 over the two-day tourney, and finished on a high note to conclude the event.

“I’m very proud of this crew,” Bindenagel said.

Central, 9-10 on the season, travels to Harrisburg for a match on Thursday before hosting Yankton on Saturday.
