WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Christian improved to 18-3 on the season with a sweep over Great Plains Lutheran on Monday night.

The Knights recorded a 25-14, 25-19, 25-23 non-conference volleyball sweep.

Senior Kaylee Block had a solid match with a pair of ace serves, 24 set assists and three blocks.

“I thought a few of the girls did a better job tonight serving more aggressively,” said Christian coach Maggie Jett. “Kaylee showed up behind the service line tonight, serving more like she had been the beginning of the season. It was nice to see that aggressive serve come back.”

The Panthers did not go quietly. The hosts made each set closer as the match wore on and pushed Christian to the limit in the final set.

“Our net play was much more active tonight with more of the girls getting blocks and touches on blocks, and offensively we did a nice job finding holes in their defense,” Jett said. “GPL was pretty scrappy, so we had to work to find places to get the ball down.”

Mary Fites powered the Knights offense with 10 kills.

“Mary showed her experience nicely tonight by mixing up some shots and moved the ball around with her swings,” Jett said.

Grace Kaiser contributed two aces, six kills and three blocks. Joy Rohrbach topped the Knights with 22 digs.

“Defensively for us, our girls really did a nice job not letting their offense find any openings,” Jett said. “They got the job done.”

Christian plays host to Florence-Henry on Friday at the Christian School Gym. The Class A Falcons are 21-5 on the season.
