LEOLA – Aberdeen Christian set the tone early and then finished strong late on the way to a 25-13, 25-23, 25-11 Lake Region Conference volleyball sweep over Leola-Frederick Thursday night.

The Knights collected 14 ace serves and 44 kills on the evening.

“I was glad the girls went in and took care of business tonight,” said Christian coach Maggie Jett. “They played pretty clean and polished in sets one and three.”

However, Christian the found the going a bit tougher in the second set as the Titans made things interesting.

“Leola-Frederick pushed back pretty hard in the second set,” Jett said, “but the girls did a nice job to overcome a 12-17 deficit to come back and take the set.”

Mallory Miller had a season-high 14 kills and Hanna Miller a dozen to power the Christian offense.

Kaylee Block served up six aces and Mary Fites contributed five.

“Kaylee and Mary were solid from the service line tonight,” Jett said.

Laura Sumption finished with seven kills and Alyx Hoffman five for the Titans. Jocelynn Ellwein added two aces and eight set assists.

Christian, 17-3 on the season, takes on Great Plains Lutheran in Watertown on Monday.
