Roncalli sweeps Britton-Hecla

BRITTON – After back-to-back five-set marathon losses, Aberdeen Roncalli was able to pick up a sweep on Friday night.

The Cavaliers had 35 kills and 10 aces on the way to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-10 Northeast Conference volleyball victory over Britton-Hecla.

“After a tough five-setter on Tuesday, the girls brought the energy tonight that led a strong all-around match,” said Roncalli coach Mandy Smid.

Ella Hanson had a big evening finishing with 10 kills, three aces and 14 digs. Ava Hanson also had 10 kills for the Cavaliers.

Hayley Schmidt contributed a pair of aces and 14 digs for Roncalli.

“We communicated well and really took a big step in the right direction together,” Smid said.

The Cavaliers, 12-7 on the season, play host to Faulkton on Tuesday at Roncalli Gym. The Trojans are currently 21-6 on the year.

Serving: Aberdeen Roncalli 63-71 10 aces (Ella Hanson 11-14 3 aces, Hayley Schmidt 6-7 2 aces).

Hitting: Aberdeen Roncalli 83-101 35 kills (E. Hanson 28-33 10 kills, Ava Hanson 12-19 10 kills).

Setting: Aberdeen Roncalli 92-92 33 assists (Olivia Hanson 88-88 32 assists).

Digs: Aberdeen Roncalli 56 (Schmidt 14, E. Hanson 14, Jeci Ewart 14).

Blocks: Aberdeen Roncalli 1 solo 8 assists (Jaidyn Feickert 3 assists).
