Central drops final regular season match to Jefferson

SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central was unable to keep up with Sioux Falls Jefferson in the Golden Eagles final tune up for the post season Thursday night.

Central dropped a 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 non-conference volleyball decision to the Cavaliers.

“We were actually pretty knotted up until about 10-10 in each set,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel.

The Eagles had a bit of struggle from the service line in the contest.

“We didn’t serve especially well,” Bindenagel said.

Grace Kuch had seven kills and Kiana Mounga five to lead the Central offense. Sydney Evans recorded 23 digs to power the Eagles defense.

In the end, Central wasn’t able to slow down a flourishing Jefferson squad which has now won four of its last five matches and is currently 13-15 after starting out the season by losing four in a row.

Maddie Paulsen had 10 kills and Emory Brosnahand nine to lead Jefferson.

The Cavaliers are currently one spot in front of Central in the playoff seed points.

The Eagles are 12-13 on the season and will now gear up for Thursday’s SoDak 16 round.

“We have four days in the gym to prepare for Thursday,” Bindenagel said. “That’s all we are thinking about now. There’s no time to look backward. We have to be forward focused.”
