Cougars rout Huron in season opener

HURON - The Aberdeen Cougars started off the season in dominating fashion with a 10-0 win over Huron in girls' varsity hockey action Friday night. The Cougars scored twice in each of the first two periods before capping off the victory with six goals in the third period. "I think we started a little slow, but we were skating hard," said Cougars coach Rob Weinmeister. "We started to move the puck around and once we started to do that, good things happened." Alyssa Roehrich, Rani Mattke and Allie Woehl each contributed one goal for the Cougars. Ellen Orr stopped all seven shots she faced in goal.
