Faulkton sweeps Timber Lake for state tourney berth

IPSWICH – Faulkton racked up 38 kills on the way to a sweep over Timber Lake in Class B SoDak 16 volleyball action Tuesday night in Ipswich to earn another trip to the State Volleyball Tournament. The Trojans, who have won 20 of their past 22 matches, finished fifth at last year’s state tourney.

Isabel Aesoph led the victory with 17 kills and also had 12 digs. Shayna Heitmann contributed nine kills, while Addison Melius had six kills, one ace, and three blocks.

Gabby Kost dished out 20 assists and Camryn Deiter had 15.

Faulkton, 26-6 on the season, enters the state tourney in Rapid City next week as the sixth seed. The Trojans will face Arlington in the opening round at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.
