SELBY – Herreid-Selby Area scored two touchdowns in two minutes to rally past De Smet 16-14 in a battle of unbeatens in the semifinals of the Class 9A football playoffs Friday night.

The Wolverines trailed 14-0 before scoring a pair of touchdowns and getting two crucial two-point conversions. Brenden Begeman ran for a touchdown and PAT with 7:43 left in the third. HSA then recovered an on-side kick and found the end zone again with 5:41 remaining in the quarter when Tray Hettick tossed a four-yard touchdown pass to Begeman, who then provided the game-winning extra points on a run.

De Smet had an opportunity to score late in the game before the Wolverines recovered a fumble deep in their own territory to help preserve the victory.
