A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Nov. 14-20:

Last year on Nov. 20, 2020: The Aberdeen Wings are 9-0 after a 7-0 shutout of Minot on the road. Goalie Jake Sibell stopped all 22 shots he faced while teammate Natan Vertes contributed three goals. Also scoring for the Wings were Liam Fraser, Clayton Cosentino, Cade Neilson and Spencer Schneider.

10 years ago on Nov. 17, 2011: Coach Keri Bolduan has her Mobridge-Pollock volleyball team back in the State A tourney for the third year in a row. The Tigers are led by four-year starter Kass Keller.

20 years ago on Nov. 14, 2001: Aberdeen Central juniors and leading scorers Laura Legge and Laura Wegehaupt were named to the All-Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ basketball team.

30 years ago on Nov. 19, 1991: Wakonda basketball star Becky Flynn has signed a letter of intent to play for Creighton University. The three-time all-stater holds the all-time state scoring record. Wakonda is 122-1 in her five years of varsity play.

40 years ago on Nov. 15, 1981: The three days of South Dakota’s first high school football championships have been completed at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. The results:

11AAA: SFO 12, Yankton 3.
11AA: Winner 31, Vermillion 21.
11A: DeSmet 8, Gregory 6.
9AA: Freeman 19, Faulkton 14.
9A: Bridgewater 6, Colome 0.

50 years ago on Nov. 20, 1971: Iowa State (7-3) routed Oklahoma State 54-0 led by junior George Amundson of Aberdeen. He rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw two passes for 65 yards and a TD. It was called the greatest day ever by an Iowa State back. The previous week on Nov. 13, Amundson led his team past Missouri 45-17 with 140 yards rushing and three TDs. He also threw for a touchdown for the Cyclones. Plus, Amundson now has a school-record 1,149 yards rushing for the season.
