Miller falls to Colman-Egan in straight sets

MADISON – Fresh off a win over top-rated Bridgewater-Emery, Colman-Egan backed it up by grabbing a sweep over Miller in Class B SoDak 16 volleyball action Tuesday night in Madison.

The C-E Hawks set the tone early en route to 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 victory. Colman-Egan, 25-7 on the season, will face Chester Area in the opening round of the State Volleyball Tournament at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 in Rapid City.

Ally Mullaney topped the Rustlers with 10 kills and three blocks. Tricia Lammers followed with three kills to go along with one block. Tyra Gates contributed 16 set assists and 13 digs.

Serving: Miller 41-46 2 aces (Payton Kilker 8-9 1 ace, Heather Resel 14-14 1 ace, Jaden Werdel 6-6).

Hitting: Miller 85-108 17 kills (Ally Mullaney 16-20 10 kills, Tricia Lammers 11-14 3 kills, Werdel 26-31 2 kills).

Setting: Miller 16 assists (Tyra Gates 89-91 16 assists).

Digs: Miller 51 (Gates 13, Werdel 10, Kilker 7).

Blocks: Miller 1 solo 3 assists (Mullaney 1 solo 2 assists, Lammers 1 assist).
