Minnesota Crookston held Presentation College to a season-low 44 points and snapped the Saints’ six-game win in the process Friday evening.
The Golden Eagles scored a 75-44 non-conference men’s college basketball victory during the Dacotah Bank Classic at Wachs Arena.
Crookston led just 15-12 before taking control and extending the margin to 15 points at the half. The lead continued to grow in the final 20 minutes. The Eagles shot nearly 58 percent from the field in the contest.
“Crookston played extremely hard,” said PC coach Stan Holt. “I thought they did what they wanted to do and I didn’t think we played to the level to which we’re capable and that’s unfortunate.”
Holt felt that missed opportunities lingered with his players throughout the duration of the contest.
“We had some opportunities for some dunks and layups, that we didn’t convert on and I thought that that bothered us too much,” Holt said. “I didn’t think we played with a sense of looking to the next play.”
Ian Kelly scored 12 points to lead the Saints. Dwight Felton followed with nine.
PC is back in action tonight, taking on Northern State at 7 p.m. in the Dacotah Bank Classic.
“Northern State is a storied program,” Holt said. “They have a history of great teams, great players, and excellent coaching and this team is no different.”
Holt said the Saints are happy to be a part of the classic.
“I appreciate the opportunity to play in this arena,” Holt said. “Everybody here has been absolutely first class and they’ve been really accommodating and welcoming. We certainly want to acknowledge and appreciate that.”
