Barr’s long-distance shooting lifts Central past Spearfish

While a weather alert was issued for conditions outside, a Spencer Barr alert should have been issued for his shooting display inside Golden Eagles Arena Friday night. The junior exploded for 16 points in a six-minute span of the third quarter to help power Aberdeen Central past Spearfish 75-50 in non-conference boys' basketball. Barr finished the evening with 26 points, including 6-of-6 from three-point range. "It’s great," Barr said of being in the shooting zone. "It’s everybody’s dream. It’s been my dream since I was a kid." Central had watched the Spartans close the gap to 36-31 midway through the period. The Eagles called a timeout and when play resumed, Barr nailed back-to-back three-pointers to spark a run that left the home team with a 17-point lead by quarter's end.
