We have reached the midway point of the 2021-2022 athletic season. In sports vernacular, it’s halftime.
High school teams are in the middle of a state-imposed moratorium (which is a great thing for families to get a chance to exhale from the busy demands of a season and spend some quality time together). Just like halftime, there is currently no action on the court.
While there will be no games to report on for the next few days, rest assured there will be plenty of quality content on the SD SportScene website. We have some exciting things planned for each day.
It will start on Friday when the South Dakota Sports Writers Association announces its year end award winners. It’s safe to say, you will recognize some of the names on the list.
Christmas day will include a feature story that you won’t want to miss.
That will be followed by SD SportScene’s own version of year end recognition. One day will include a compilation of the best quotes that were included in stories that were on the site throughout the past year. Another day will feature the best photos of the year from John Davis that appeared on the website.
Before the squads return to action, we will run another feature on a local athlete. So, while it may seem a bit quiet around the gymnasiums for a few days, there will be plenty of things to check out at SD SportScene.
Also, just a heads up that for the winter months, the Looking Back feature will move to Monday instead of running on Sunday, because we have so many stories and photo galleries that run on Sunday that we don’t want readers to lose track of those past highlights.
This would be a good spot to thank all who have made SD SportScene one of the fastest growing websites in the region. We have heard a lot of positive feedback and we appreciate it.
Our sponsors are a huge reason why we can do what we do. Please patronize them. A complete list can be found on our Sponsors page. We hope to continue to add to that list.
To our subscribers, we can’t thank you enough. You are the reason why we exist. We kindly ask that you refrain from sharing subscriptions to help ensure future sustainability of the site and keep our rates low.
As we prepare to head into the new year, we have some big goals in mind. Time will tell how that plays out, but one thing is guaranteed, we will continue to work hard to provide the best coverage possible of all the teams in our region. It’s been a fantastic start and we again thank you for being a part of the process.
May you all have a Merry Christmas and God bless your New Year.
