Local teams remained in their spots in this week’s basketball poll, setting up a pair of major battles in Aberdeen tonight.

Aberdeen Christian (6-2), rated fourth in the Class B boys’ poll, hosts Faulkton (9-1), just outside the top five in this week’s rankings at 8 p.m. at the Christian School Gym. Faulkton knocked last week’s fifth-rated team Timber Lake out of the top five handing the Panthers their first loss of the season last Saturday. Christian and Faulkton are the only unbeaten squads in the Lake Region Conference standings.

Aberdeen Central (7-3), which stayed fourth in Class AA boys, plays host to second-rated O’Gorman (8-1) at 7 p.m. at Golden Eagles Arena. The Knights are currently second in seed points in AA, while Central is sixth.

Aberdeen Roncalli (7-0) continues to top Class B girls, and Aberdeen Christian (8-0) remained third in B girls. Groton (8-0) continued to receive votes in Class A boys. Christian hosts Faulkton this evening at 6:30 at the Christian School. Like their male counterparts, they are the only remaining teams without a setback in LRC play.

This week marks the first time that Roncalli was not a unanimous selection for the top spot. Corsica-Stickney earned one first place vote after handing then number-one ranked Class A Flandreau its first setback of the season last week.

Wagner took over the top spot in Class A girls this week, while O’Gorman moved to the top of the Class AA girls after toppling last week’s number one Sioux Falls Washington.
