BROOKINGS – Aberdeen Central took care of the ball, took care of their free throws and ended up taking care of business Thursday night against Brookings.

The Golden Eagles made seven of eight free throws in the final minute to seal a 67-56 Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ basketball victory.

AJ Hase made four straight foul shots and Sam Rohls added three free throws to help Central turn back the Bobcats.

Rohlfs led all scorers with 25 points. He also had five rebounds and three steals.

“Sam had by far his best game of the year,” said Central coach Brent Norberg. “He scored consistently all night and was excellent defensively.”

Rohlfs and Jackson Dorsett both made clutch three-pointers down the stretch. Dorsett’s final three put the Eagles up by 11 points and helped Central to maintain momentum over the hard-charging Bobcats.

“We kept playing through their hot shooting and were able to come away with a road win,” Norberg said.

Alec Voegele contibuted 14 points, five rebounds and four assists to the Central total.

Hase finished with 12 points and Dorsett added nine to help make up for the absence of Spencer Barr, who is out indefinitely after breaking his wrist in a win over Sioux Falls Lincoln last Saturday.

Brookings was led by Jake Ammann with 20 points and Nathan Lease with 11.

The Eagles, 7-2 on the season, are scheduled to host Tea Area at 3 p.m. Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena, weather permitting.
