SELBY – Aberdeen Christian received 18 points from three different players on the way to claiming its sixth straight win Tuesday night.

The fourth-rated Knights collected a 76-43 non-conference boys’ basketball triumph over Herreid-Selby Area.

While the Christian offense was clicking all game, coach David Rohrbach felt his team’s defense got better as the contest wore on.

“I thought our defense started out a little slow, but once we picked it up we made it difficult to score on,” Rohrbach said. “It was good to see shots go in and I thought our guys shared the ball well at times also.”

Jackson Isakson, Ethan Russell and Malek Wieker each finished with 18 points to pace the victory. Andrew Brennan contibuted nine and Abe Holscher eight.

Christian connected for 10 three-pointers in the contest.

It was the Knights’ defense which also led to some easy baskets and forced tempo.

“We put on some full-court ball pressure,” Rohrbach said, “and tried to speed the game up a little bit and caused some turnovers, and were able to get out in transition.”

Tray Hettick’s 15 points topped the Wolverines. Trevor Sayler added nine.

Christian, 10-2 on the season, has another non-conference road game on Friday when it travels to Wilmot.
