Cougars double up Mitchell in boys’ victory

MITCHELL – The Aberdeen Cougars scored the first two goals to grab a lead, lost it, then scored the final two goals to secure a 4-2 victory over the Mitchell Marlins in boys’ hockey action on Saturday.

Brady Huff and Carson Myhre gave Aberdeen a lead with two first-period goals. However, the hosts evened the score on two goals within 34 seconds of each other.

Kasen Claymore then scored right before the horn to end the second period and give the Cougars some momentum heading into the third. Myhre then added an insurance goal for the final margin of difference.

Myhre had an assist to go along with his two goals. Jacob Scheel had a pair of assists for the Cougars.

Aberdeen outshot Mitchell 38-16 in the contest.

The Cougars have their final regular season game today, hosting Sioux Falls 1 at 4 p.m. at the Odde Ice Center.
