Northern women score road win over Augustana

SIOUX FALLS – Northern State used a 14-0 first-quarter surge to build a double-digit lead, then surged late to pull away from a tie game en route to a 76-66 win over Augustana during the opening round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball tournament.

Laurie Rogers led the victory with 19 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Kailee Oliverson also had a double-double for Northern with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolves will now take on St. Cloud State at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Northern lost to the Huskies during the regular season.
