BRITTON – Madison claimed the Region 1A gymnastics championship Thursday night, while Deuel’s Paige Simon won the all-around title.

Deuel was second in team points, Britton-Hecla fourth, Milbank Area fifth, and Sisseton sixth.

Simon won the bars and floor, was second on beam and fourth in vault on the way to winning the all-around. Her teammate Hope Bjerke was third in all-around.

Britton-Hecla’s Sterling Mertens was third in the vault, while Maggie Kilker was fifth on beam.

The state meet is Feb. 11-12 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
