St. Thomas More claims A title with win over Hamlin

BROOKINGS – St. Thomas More held Hamlin to four first-quarter points and captured the State A girls’ basketball championship with a 52-30 victory Saturday night.

Reese Ross poured in 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead STM, which capped its season at 22-3.

Hamlin was led by Brooklyn Brandriet with 11 points, but no other player managed more than five. The Chargers, who also finished second in last year’s state tournament, finished the year at 23-3. They had won 20 straight games heading into the state final.
