BROOKINGS – A pair of Milbank Area athletes were a part of four first-place finishes at the Scott Underwood indoor track and field meet in Brookings on Monday.
Bennett Schwenn won the 200-meter dash and the triple jump for the Bulldogs, while teammate Nick Batchelor won the 1,600-meter run and ran on the winning 3,200-meter relay squad.
Schwenn also finished second in the 100-meter dash.
Other top finishes from area athletes on the boys’ side included Drew Reetz of Webster who won the pole vault, Jason Fisher of Sisseton who was second in the high jump, and Andrew Knox of Miller who was second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
In girls’ action, Hamlin’s Gracelynn Leiseth won the shot put with teammate Kami Wadsworth in second.
Other top finishes from area athletes included Ashlynn Batchelor of Milbank Area who was third in the 1,600-meter run, Ally Mullaney of Miller who was fourth in the high jump and fifth in the long jump, and Redfield’s Camryn Rohlfs who was fourth in the long jump and fifth in the 100-meter dash.
