Martin, Merxbauer win events in Rapid City

RAPID CITY – Aberdeen Central’s Josh Martin and Jacob Merxbauer each won an individual event during the Track-O-Rama Nation track and field meet in Rapid City on Tuesday.

Merxbauer placed in three events on the day. The senior won the triple jump with a leap of 42-feet, one-half inch. He also was fifth in the 100-meter dash, and ran on the 1,600-meter relay team that finished third.

Martin won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 9:57.65 and was second in the 800-meter run.

Aiden Heimann finished second in both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and also ran on the 4X4 relay squad along with Gabe Johnson and Carter Dingman.

Sam Rohlfs was third in the 200-meter dash.

The Eagles took those six members to the meet.

“It was a good day,” said Central assistant coach Brent Norberg. “We placed well in the events we entered.”
