Class B Track and Field leaders

Several area athletes took advantage of one last competition before this weekend’s state meet to turn in top times among the Class B track and field leaders.

The Frederick boys’ 1,600-meter relay team clocked the fastest time in the class during last week’s Region 1B meet in Britton, running a time of 3:34.3. Members include Mason Hinz, Stephen Achen, Brayden Sumption and John Bretsch.

At that same region meet, Aberdeen Roncalli’s Mason Carrels vaulted to third place in Class B with a vault of 12-feet 3-inches, Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide lowered her class best 1,600-meter run time down to 5:23.1, Warner’s Jordyn Jensen moved into fifth place in the pole vault, and Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Croix clocked the seventh best time in the 200-meter dash.

Meanwile at Region 2B, Potter County’s Makaivry Schatz improved her top mark in the pole vault to 9-feet 7-inches, and Brenden Begeman of Herreid-Selby Area moved into third place in the triple jump. Begeman is also tops in the shot put.

Among the other area boys’ leaders are Maddox May of Roncalli who is second in the 300 hurdles, Ty Kadlec of Ipswich who is second in the 200 and sixth in the 100, Carter Geditz of Ipswich who is tied for third in the 110 hurdles, Zach Geditz of Ipswich who is fourth in the discus, Roncalli’s Jayden Munroe who is fourth in the triple jump, Faulkton’s Hunter Niederbaumer who is fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 800, and Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County who is fifth in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1,600.

Area girls’ leaders include Ella Boekelheide who leads both the 1,600 and 3,200, Roncalli’s Morgan Fiedler who is second in the triple jump, tied for third in the long jump, and tied for fourth in the 100, Ipswich’s Marley Guthmiller who is tied for second in the pole vault, Jessica Boekelheide of Northwestern who is third in the 100, 200 and 400, Emma Schlachter of Potter County who is third in the 800, Morgan Sumption of Frederick who is fourth in the 3,200 and sixth in the 800, Katelyn Schroeder of Hitchcock-Tulare who is third in the triple jump, and the Potter County 1,600-meter relay team which has the best time in the class. Members are Kirstie Lake, Rachel Persoon, Dannika Kaup and Emma Schlachter.
