ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Aberdeen Wings rallied from a 3-1 deficit and grabbed another road playoff victory Friday night. Kyle Gaffney scored in overtime to lift the Wings to a 5-4 win over St. Cloud in game one of their NAHL Central Division championship playoff series.

The Wings received a first-period goal from Hugo Allais but trailed 3-1 in the second period before a three-goal barrage gave Aberdeen a 4-3 lead.

Owen DuBois, Landry Schmuck and Ronan Walsh scored three unanswered goals, the last coming in the final minute of the second period to give the Wings momentum heading into the final period.

However, Broten Sabo scored his second goal of the contest to tie the game in the third period as the Norseman outshot Aberdeen 18-11 in the period.

That setup the overtime where Gaffney’s goal ended it.

The win marked the third straight road victory in the playoffs for the Wings, who took two games at Austin in their prior playoff series. The overtime was the third of the playoffs for St. Cloud so far this post season, having had two in a series with Bismarck in the division semifinals.

The Wings, who have now won five games in a row dating back to the regular season, and Norsemen are back at it for game two tonight in St. Cloud before the series shifts to Aberdeen next weekend.
