Zikmund-May win consolation doubles championship

RAPID CITY - The Aberdeen Roncalli flight three doubles team of Landon Zikmund and Gannon May finished off the season on a high note at the State A tennis tournament on Tuesday. The duo won the consolation championship with a dominant victory over a squad from St. Thomas More. Zikmund and May lost a heartbreaker in the opening round on Monday, 7-5, 7-6, but regrouped and won a pair of matches to finish ninth at the tourney. "Landon and Gannon played great. They didn't have a lot of time to play together this season as Gannon was out for a month with a back injury after the first match," said Roncalli coach JD Carrels. "But over the last couple of weeks of playing together they started to feed off each other's styles and find a good ryhthm." The Cavaliers fell in each of the other matches during the second day of action.
