Circus rolls to another amateur victory

The Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar amateur baseball squad claimed a 17-2 victory in five innings over Groton Locke Electric Tuesday night at Fossum Field.

The local squad improved to 9-1 on the season and has now outscored its last three opponents by a combined total of 48-3. Aberdeen entered this week’s Class A amateur poll for the first time this season, checking in at the number four position.

Circus got the bats going early, giving up one run in the top of the first, but exploding for seven runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Groton plated its second run in the top of the second inning, but never mounted a serious threat the remainder of the game. Aberdeen tacked on nine runs over the fourth and fifth innings. 

Groton had just four hits in the game and committed three defensive errors. Circus ended the night with 15 hits and just one error.
