Backous wins multiple titles at state trapshooting tournament

MITCHELL – Zane Backous of Aberdeen had a big weekend during the annual South Dakota State Trapshooting Tournament in Mitchell.

The sophomore who attends Aberdeen Roncalli was the individual, doubles, and high all-around state champion in the Sub Junior Division. He hit 199 out of 200 targets in singles, 92 of 100 handicap, and 90 of 100 in doubles. He was also on the state championship team in the 15 and under division where he had a 199. Other team members included Addison Ward (182), Zach Weideman (189), Beau Binder (152) and Ryan Peterson (177).

Next year’s state tournament will take place in Aberdeen.
