Braun finishes third in final Sanford event, tops final points leaders

SIOUX FALLS – Olivia Braun of Aberdeen finished third in the Sanford Series Golf Championship Monday at the Country Club of Sioux Falls.

Braun, who will be a freshman at Aberdeen Central this upcoming school year, shot a 79.

Mattie Weidenbach of Sioux Falls won the event with a 77. Weidenbach golfed for Harrisburg this past season.

Lauren Sutcliffe, who golfed for O’Gorman this past spring, was second with a 78.

Miller’s Jayce Pugh, who will be a freshman this school year, finished eighth with an 87.

The event was by invitation only based on finishes throughout the summer. Braun finished with the most points of any girl on the Sanford Tour and won a pair of events this summer. Pugh tied for ninth in points.
