Minnesota teenager wins Rumble title

He may have been the youngest driver on the track, but he executed a veteran move that allowed him to grab the biggest win of his racing career. Bryce Sward of Nelson, Minn. performed a slide on a restart to grab a lead on the way to winning the $10,000 Dacotah Bank Insurance Rumble title at Brown County Speedway Saturday night. The 18-year-old Late Model driver knew he was running out of time before a restart with 19 laps remaining in the 50-lap event opened the door. One the green flag dropped, Sward slid under race leader Ryan Mikkelson of Alexandria, Minn., for a lead he never lost. "I kind of knew that’s what I had to do. I knew he was going to check out if I wouldn’t have thrown a slider," Sward said. "I just kind of threw it in there and hoped I could get by him and kind of keep going after that, and it worked."
