Redfield runs past Milbank in State B opener

GREGORY - There was no shortage of traffic on the base paths for Redfield on the way to a 16-1 win over Milbank in the opening round of the State B American Legion Baseball Tournament on Friday afternoon. Redfield had a dozen hits, took advantage of 11 walks and four hit batters, and racked up six stolen bases on the way to the five-inning victory. Redfield set the tone early with two runs in top half of the first inning thanks to run-scoring singles by Owen Osborn and Elijah Morrissette. Redfield tacked on two more runs in the second on a two-run single by Keaton Rohlfs. While Milbank got one run back on an RBI-single by Mike Karges in the second, Redfield broke the game open with nine runs in the third inning. Erik Salmen delivered the big blow with a bases-loaded hit that ended up plating three runs thanks to a throwing error.
