VOLGA – Aberdeen Roncalli finished runner-up in team points during the Sioux Valley Invitational golf tournament on Monday.

The Cavaliers had a balanced attack on the way to a team total of 336, 12 strokes off the pace of champion Sioux Valley.

“I’m happy with the start to the season,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “We hope to keep building off the good start.”

Finn Anderson topped Roncalli with a 82, good for sixth place. Jesse Hernandez was 10th with an 84, followed by teammates Sawyer Henrich 11th, and Harper Schnabel 12th, both with 85s.

Kyler Bezdichek of Sioux Valley was the medalist with a 76, one stroke better than Milbank Area’s Jonathan DeBoer. Groton’s Carter Simon was eighth with an 83.

The Cavaliers are right back at it today, playing in a tournament in Madison.
