Central golfers tie for 12th at Mitchell tourney

MITCHELL – Aberdeen Central shot a team score of 331 and finished in a tie for 12th at the Mitchell Invitational golf tournament on Friday.

The Golden Eagles tied with Brookings for that position. O’Gorman won the team title with a 287, 11 strokes better than Harrisburg.

The individual championship came down to a two-hole playoff where Jack Hilgenberg of Sioux Falls Lincoln prevailed over Liam Sarmiento of O’Gorman. Both golfers finished with scores of 69.

Aberdeen Central was led by Rylan Dykema who tied for 37th with an 81. Cole Brust tied for 44th with an 82, and Carter Blanchard and Peyton Brust tied for 57th with scores of 84. Quincy Madsen shot a 91 and Gavyn Jaragovske had a 95.

Central is back in action Tuesday at a tournament in Watertown. The Eagles then conclude their season with the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament and the state tourney.
