Golden Eagles finish eighth at ESD golf

PIERRE – There was a tight team finish at the Eastern South Dakota Conference golf tournament on Saturday. Watertown edged Harrisburg by one stroke, while Pierre finished just two strokes off the pace.

Aberdeen Central finished in ninth place with a team total of 325.

Watertown’s Jake Olson earned medalist honors by shooting a blistering 65, one shot better than runner-up Parker Schultz of Harrisburg.

Central was led by Peyton Brust who finished in a tie for 23rd with a 78. Teammate Rylan Dykema tied for 25th with a 79.

The other Golden Eagles were bunched up within five strokes of each other. Quincy Madsen shot an 83, Carter Blanchard an 85, and Cole Brust and Gavyn Jaragovske had 88s.

Central is now off until competing in the Class AA State Tournament Oct. 3-4 in Mitchell.
